چکیده

The Class-E power amplifier is widely used due to its high efficiency, resulting from switching at zero voltage and zero slope of the switch voltage. In this paper, we extend general analytical solutions for the Class-E power amplifier to the ideal single-ended Variable-Voltage Class-E (Class-Evv) power amplifier that switches at zero slope but not necessarily at zero voltage. The theory is verified by simulations and measurements, and show that the peak switch voltage of Class-Evv power amplifier is lower (up to 30% ) than in the conventional Class-E power amplifier; which can be utilized to obtain e.g. higher output power (up to 200% more) with lower power-added efficiency (maximum 20% less) from technologies with low-breakdown voltages.

A 2.7-kW, 29-MHz Class-E/Fodd Amplifier with a Distributed Active Transformer

A Class-E/Fodd high power amplifier (PA) using the distributed active transformer (DAT) is demonstrated at 29MHz. The DAT combines the output power from four VDMOS push-pull pairs. The zero voltage switching (ZVS) condition is investigated and modified for the Class-E/Fodd amplifier with a non-ideal output transformer. All lumped elements including the DAT and the transistor package are modeled...

i ABSTRACT Nowadays transducers are ubiquitous as interfaces between the increasingly digital world and the real physical world. The same holds for the power amplifiers driving them. This thesis focuses on the design and optimization of high-voltage class-D amplifiers, which are used for driving capacitive piezoelectric actuator loads in active vibration/noise control applications. The main obj...

High Frequency Current Mode Class-D Amplifiers With High Power and Efficiency

High Frequency Current Mode Class-D Amplifiers With High Output Power and Efficiency By Anthony Lawrence Long A 13 watt Current Mode Class-D (CMCD) with 60% efficiency is presented. This amplifier is the highest power switch mode microwave power amplifier reported to date. The CMCD architecture is an improvement over the Voltage Mode Class-D in that the parasitic reactance in the active device ...

Class-e High-efficiency Rf/microwave Power Amplifiers: Principles of Operation, Design Procedures, and Experimental Verification

Class-E power amplifiers [1]-[6] achieve significantly higher efficiency than for conventional Class-B or -C. Class E operates the transistor as an on/off switch and shapes the voltage and current waveforms to prevent simultaneous high voltage and high current in the transistor; that minimizes the power dissipation, especially during the switching transitions. In the published low-order Class-E...

Load Network Design Technique for Switched-Mode Tuned Class E Power Amplifiers

Abstract − The switched-mode second-order Class E configuration with a generalized load network including the shunt capacitance, series bondwire inductance, finite DC feed inductance and series LC circuit is analytically defined with a set of the exact design equations. Based on these equations, the required voltage and current waveforms and circuit parameters are determined for both general ca...
